After both having extra time off, the Granite Bay Grizzlies and the Whitney Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Whitney took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Granite Bay, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, it was close, but Granite Bay sidestepped Rocklin for a 3-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won five in a row.

Granite Bay took Rocklin into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 17-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Whitney came up short against Folsom last Wednesday and fell 3-1. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-16 in the first set.

Whitney started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Whitney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Balin Sillence-Dhamrait had 12 digs and 11 assists. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Sillence-Dhamrait. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Roeker, who had ten digs and four assists.

Granite Bay's win bumped their record up to 17-14. As for Whitney, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-19.
