Baseball Game Preview: Shorecrest Prep Chargers vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles

The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will challenge the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Shorecrest Prep has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Shorecrest Prep took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Clearwater Central Catholic 11-10.

The team relied heavily on Jake Diner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Jordan Black was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Shorecrest Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian came up short against Palm Harbor University on Thursday and fell 9-4.

Hayden Perez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Ryan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Shorecrest Prep pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.2 hits in those games compared to only 4.67 in the others. As for Indian Rocks Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
