Soccer Game Preview: Capistrano Valley vs. Mission Viejo

The Capistrano Valley Cougars will square off against the Mission Viejo Diablos at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Monday, Capistrano Valley and Aliso Niguel finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Mission Viejo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Aliso Niguel. While losing is never fun, the Diablos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 855th, while the Wolverines are ranked 174th).

Mission Viejo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. Capistrano Valley's draw gives them a new season record of 1-4-3.

Capistrano Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission Viejo when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Capistrano Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mission Viejo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
