Preview: Merryville Panthers vs. Gueydan Bears
The Merryville Panthers will be playing at home against the Gueydan Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Merryville and ten for Gueydan dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Merryville was the victim of a rough 36-14 defeat at the hands of Basile.
Merryville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chanler Blackmon, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and Jerimaya Robinson who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Gueydan fell victim to Oberlin's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Tigers, falling 43-0.
Merryville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Gueydan, their loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Merryville came up short against Gueydan in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 42-34. Will Merryville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
