Preview: Jones County Coyotes vs. Kadoka Kougars

Two dominant players in Cooper Feddersen and Garrett Hermann are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jones County Coyotes and the Kadoka Kougars will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Jones County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.

Jones County fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Philip but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 63-54 to the Scotties.

Despite their defeat, Jones County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Feddersen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jett Nix, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Kadoka suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. Their rough 64-40 defeat to White River might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Kadoka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while White River is ranked tenth).

Despite their defeat, Kadoka saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Karson Eisenbraun, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hermann was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Jones County's record is now 6-4. Kadoka's record is now 3-6.

Fans should be in for an exciting game on Tuesday as the two teams are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Jones County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.3 points per game. It's a different story for Kadoka, though, as they've been averaging only 54.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Jones County was able to grind out a solid win over Kadoka when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 58-49. Does Jones County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kadoka turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
