Preview: Hartford Orioles vs. Nicolet Knights
Hartford is 0-10 against Nicolet since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hartford Orioles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nicolet Knights at 7:00 p.m. Hartford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,243 points over their last 17 matchups.
Hartford pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Cedarburg at home by a decisive 83-65 margin. Hartford has struggled against Cedarburg recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Nicolet put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 84-44 victory over Slinger. Given Nicolet's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Slinger is ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nicolet to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damon Landrum jr., who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Bolden, who scored eight points along with seven assists and three steals.
Hartford's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-11. As for Nicolet, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Hartford took a serious blow against Nicolet in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 110-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nicolet's Davion Hannah, who scored 36 points along with eight rebounds.
