Basketball Game Preview: Blaine Borderites vs. Lakewood Cougars

The Blaine Borderites will challenge the Lakewood Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Blaine has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 4.

On Saturday, Blaine came up short against Bear Creek and fell 63-51. While losing is never fun, the Borderites can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 91st).

Meanwhile, Lakewood strolled past Meridian with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 77-62. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Lakewood's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. As for Blaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Blaine was taken down by Lakewood 65-32 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Blaine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
