Baseball Recap: Collinsville Comes Up Short

Collinsville dropped their record down to 11-14 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Freeburg Midgets by a score of 6-5. The Kahoks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Midgets from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Carter Harrington was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Collinsville is 4-2 when Harrington posts two or more runs, but 7-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Bovinett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

As for Freeburg, their record is now 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 22nd.

On Freeburg's side, they let John Higgins and Cole Miller run wild. Higgins went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Miller went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Miller has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sam Rauckman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Collinsville will head out to face off against Alton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freeburg, they will take on Roxana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Shells' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Midgets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
