Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Christian Wolverines vs. Evergreen Lutheran Eagles

Northwest Christian is a perfect 4-0 against Evergreen Lutheran since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolverines will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Northwest Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Northwest Christian barely beat Muckleshoot Tribal the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Kings with a sharp 13-3 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly ten runs.

Travis Elmore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Joseph Meier was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Cox, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Evergreen Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 11-5 to Quilcene.

Northwest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Evergreen Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything went Northwest Christian's way against Evergreen Lutheran in their previous matchup on Monday, as Northwest Christian made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
