Volleyball Recap: Windham Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bristol last Tuesday, Windham came back down to earth. The Bombers came up short against the Champion Golden Flashes on Monday, falling 3-0. The Bombers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Flashes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Windham was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Champion's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 28-26.

Windham's offense was headlined by Makenna Jones and Makenzi Blockinger, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Kierrah Sanders and her ten assists. Finally, Jones was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Windham has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Champion, their win ended a six-match drought on the road and puts them at 4-16.

Windham has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Lordstown on the 8th. As for Champion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Newton Falls on the 7th.
