Organ Mountain fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Las Cruces on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldawgs. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Eric Gomez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rey Ponce, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Organ Mountain's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-5-1. As for Las Cruces, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

While Organ Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
