Baseball Recap: Germantown Mavericks vs. Oxford Chargers
Germantown and Oxford squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Germantown had to settle for second. They fell 8-3 to the Oxford Chargers. Germantown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oxford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Saturday.
Jackson Hood was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Estes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
On Oxford's side, Hayes Huggins looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Brady Stinnett was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. Reid Kent was another key contributor, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Germantown's loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Oxford, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-11.
