Baseball Recap: Mountain View's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Mountain View can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They skirted past the Heritage Timberwolves 5-3. For the Thunder, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 victory the Timberwolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Nick Wilcox made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brendon Lawson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Legend Haskew, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mountain View's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Heritage, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Mountain View will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Timberwolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
