Baseball Game Preview: Augusta Christian Lions vs. Fox Creek Predators

The Augusta Christian Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Fox Creek Predators at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Augusta Christian will be strutting in after a win while Fox Creek will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Augusta Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Cardinal Newman. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cardinals, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since February 17th.

Augusta Christian's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Davis has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Fox Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Woodruff on Friday and fell 6-4. The Predators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fox Creek also got a good showing from Cam Porter, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Porter gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Caleb Waters was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Lawson Lewis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Augusta Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fox Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Augusta Christian couldn't quite finish off Fox Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Augusta Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
