Basketball Recap: Good Samaritan Homeschool Skates Past Burkeville with Ease

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They breezed by the Burkeville Mustangs to the tune of 68-26. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Mehl out in front who went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards Mehl has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Fogo, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups.

Burkeville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kort Metts, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, and Dylan Warren, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Metts has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times he's played.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's record now sits at 15-1. As for Burkeville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-48 defeat against Bob Hope on the 28th. As for Burkeville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-40 victory against High Island on the 3rd.
