Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. St. John's Cadets

Archbishop Carroll hasn't had much luck against St. John recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lions will host the Cadets at 4:00 p.m. Archbishop Carroll has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Archbishop Carroll is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 13-3 to The Heights.

Meanwhile, St. John's is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of St. Mary's Ryken. The Cadets put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 10-1 victory. Considering the Cadets have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was St. John's third in a row) raised their record to 13-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
