Basketball Recap: Florence Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Florence extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Logan Stenson. The Florence Gophers were the clear victor by a 74-51 margin over the Empire Ravens on Friday thanks in part to Stenson, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Adrian Taufassau, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Taufassau is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

Empire's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khari Gurley, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Issac Buchanan, who had 16 points.

Florence pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Empire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence and ALA - Ironwood will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Empire will take on Walden Grove in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Empire is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
