Baseball Recap: Saucon Valley Panthers vs. Wilson Area Warriors
It was a good run, but Saucon Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilson Area Warriors. Saucon Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wilson Area apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Matt Chaffier was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Chaffier was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Thomas Ubriaco was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ray Matey, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Like Saucon Valley, Wilson Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Andrew Sagrestano. Having lost for the first time this season, Saucon Valley fell to 4-1. As for Wilson Area, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
