Muir is 0-10 against Arcadia since April of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Apaches at 3:45 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Muir proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Glendora, sneaking past 4-3.
Jazmin Jaquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Jaquez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abigail (Abi) Milton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jaida Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Arcadia, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They never let Burbank get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday.
The result came thanks to Samantha Almaraz's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Fox, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Muir has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Arcadia, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1.
Muir's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Arcadia, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Muir continue to outrun the ball?
