Basketball Game Preview: Bridgeton Bulldogs vs. Millville Thunderbolts

The Bridgeton Bulldogs are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Millville Thunderbolts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bridgeton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.

Last Sunday, Bridgeton didn't have too much trouble with Glassboro as they won 62-47.

Jameell Purnell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 11 boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Bridgeton's points. Kyion Gray was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Bridgeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Millville lost to Salem on the road by a 64-48 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbolts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Rams are ranked 94th).

Millville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Bridgeton, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Bridgeton came out on top in a nail-biter against Millville when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 83-81. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bridgeton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
