After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wilcox, Homestead was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Milpitas Trojans 6-5. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Izzy Gutierrez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Leela Menon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Homestead is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Milpitas, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-9.

Homestead and Milpitas will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Mustangs see the field they'll take on Gunn at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Milpitas, their break will end when they face Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
