Volleyball Recap: North Tampa Christian Academy Titans vs. Sports Leadership & Management Spartans
North Tampa Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.
The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets North Tampa Christian Academy lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23.
Sports Leadership & Management found their leader in sophomore Lauren Viltres, who had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Viltres. Jariely Cardona also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
North Tampa Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6.
Coming up, North Tampa Christian Academy will square off against Cristo Rey Tampa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Titans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will challenge Bell Creek Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
