Softball Game Preview: West Rusk Raiders vs. Arp Tigers

The West Rusk Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Arp Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

West Rusk took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sabine, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cardinals on Friday, sneaking past 17-15. The victory was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Arp waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Bears as they made off with a 13-3 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matches by nine runs or more this season.

Arp pushed their record up to 24-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for West Rusk, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-8.

West Rusk suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Arp in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
