Volleyball Recap: Wessington Springs Takes a Loss

If Wessington Springs was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Howard last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Blackhawks: they've now lost eight in a row.

While Wessington Springs was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Sanborn Central/Woonsocket's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Wessington Springs still got an impressive performance from Remie Roduner, who had 23 digs. Roduner is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Wessington Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.

Looking ahead, Wessington Springs will take on Crow Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, they will face off against Oldham-Ramona/R at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
