Football Game Preview: Sealy Tigers vs. Gatesville Hornets + How To Watch

The Sealy Tigers will face off against the Gatesville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sealy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Gatesville likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Sealy took their game with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over La Grange. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Sealy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Javien Grant led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Another thorn in La Grange's side was Isaiah Dukes-Self, who picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles.

Despite a strong season so far, Gatesville has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a blow against Connally on Friday, falling 53-14. The Hornets were down 47-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Sealy will have to keep a close watch on Amos Phillips and Eli Phillips, a pair of players who had a big impact on Gatesville's prior game. Amos picked up 180 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Eli threw for 172 yards and two TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Amos showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 69 yards.

Sealy's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Gatesville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Everything came up roses for Sealy against Gatesville when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 56-21 victory. In that matchup, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 35-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
