League recap: No. 1 Lincoln defeats No. 2 Placer to stay on top

Pioneer Valley league recap: 5/7/12

The league's top two teams in the standings locked horns this week, as Placer took home a 5-4 victory over Lincoln on May 3, 2012. Lincoln is now in first place at 9-4 in Pioneer Valley and 12-13 overall.

Jake Sola was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .300 average, one home run and three RBIs. The Fighting Zebras compiled a record of 1-2 in that time.

Although Bear River finished first in the league this week with 102 hits, Lincoln still sits atop the the league leaderboard with 192 total hits this season. With 17 hits this year Jake Jarman leads the first-place squad, which finished with a 1-1 record this week.

Although the 75 runs scored by Bear River topped the league, the Fighting Zebras maintained their lead in the league with 135 runs this season.

Center's Nathan Lukes finished his week with seven hits, tops in the league. On the season, he's hitting .425 and ranks second in the league with 31 hits.
