Basketball Recap: Regents Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Regents won the last time they faced Ridgeview Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The Regents Lions strolled past the Ridgeview Christian Crusaders with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Crusaders are ranked 391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Regents to victory were Morris Hoffman and Tucker Jamison. Hoffman went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Jamison went 8 of 16 en route to 16 points and eight boards. Hoffman is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. David Shonka was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Regents smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Regents' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points per game. As for Ridgeview Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Regents will head out on the road to face off against Roanoke Valley Christian on Friday. As for Ridgeview Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 71-48 win against Redeemer Classical on the 21st.
