Softball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Van Vandals

Athens hasn't had much luck against Van recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Athens Hornets will face off against the Van Vandals at 6:00 p.m. Athens has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Athens came up short against Rice on Friday, falling 16-8.

Meanwhile, Van waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 5-0 shutout.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Van, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Athens came up short against Van in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can Athens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
