Basketball Recap: Surry County Comes Up Short

Surry County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. The game between them and the Franklin Broncos didn't end well, with the Surry County Cougars falling 35-18. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-22 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Surry County lost, don't look at Zariah Harrell. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points and eight boards. That's the most points Harrell has posted since back in December of 2024.

Surry County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Franklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Surry County has already played their next matchup, a 50-21 loss against Windsor on the 7th. As for Franklin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-23 defeat against Appomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech on the 7th.
