Baseball Recap: Richland Gets the Win

Richland hadn't done well against Plato recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bears walked away with a 10-6 win over the Eagles. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Mason Alexander was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Richland is 5-1 when Alexander posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Pallai, who went 1-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryce Pemberton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The win got Richland back to even at 5-5. As for Plato, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Richland will be playing in front of their home fans against Leopold at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Plato, they will head out to square off against Tuscumbia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
