Softball Game Preview: Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals vs. St. Cecilia Academy Scarabs

The Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals will take on the St. Cecilia Academy Scarabs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Hume-Fogg, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Royals blew past the Blue Knights 16-4 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Royals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet got a massive performance out of Marlee Martin, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those triples marked the first that Martin hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lily Sullivan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Martin wasn't the only one making solid contact: Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, while St. Cecilia Academy put up plenty of runs two weeks ago, the same can't be said for East Nashville Magnet. The Scarabs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-0 victory. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Scarabs this season.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for St. Cecilia Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Cecilia Academy when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 12-11. Do the Royals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scarabs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
