Volleyball Recap: Saint Mary's Takes a Loss

If Saint Mary was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Salesian College Preparatory Pride on Monday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pride earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

While Saint Mary's was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Kalaya Phung paced Saint Mary's offense, picking up 12 kills. Phung got some help from Jocelyn Martinez and her 15 assists.

With the loss, Saint Mary's broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 15-5. As for Salesian College Preparatory, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-5.

Saint Mary's has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Pinole Valley on the 1st. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on the 1st.
