Basketball Recap: Blue Valley West Comes Up Short

Blue Valley West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 76-20 defeat at the hands of the Bishop Miege Stags. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Stags are ranked 14th).

Bishop Miege was led to victory by Mary Grant and Jayla McClinton. Grant went 8-for-15 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while McClinton went 8-for-10 to rack up 17 points and six boards. The matchup was Grant's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kirston Verhulst, who posted ten points and five assists.

Blue Valley West's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Bishop Miege, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Valley West will host Blue Valley Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Bishop Miege, they will take on St. James Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. James Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Bishop Miege surely won't give up without a fight.
