Soccer Game Preview: Andress vs. Canutillo

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Andress will be strutting in after a victory while Canutillo will be coming in after a defeat.

Andress headed into their last match having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but Jefferson let them put that streak behind them. Andress was the clear victors by an 8-3 margin over Jefferson on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Silver Foxes: they've now won five in a row.

Mileena Griego and Arleth Arroyo scored all eight of Andress' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Meanwhile, Canutillo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against El Paso, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Tigers are ranked 101st).

Andress' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three games. As for Canutillo, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Andress' way against Canutillo in their previous matchup back in January, as Andress made off with a 4-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andress since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
