Basketball Recap: Jade Mount's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lebanon over Lafayette Jefferson

After flying high against Perry Meridian on Thursday, Lebanon came back down to earth. The Lebanon Tigers fell 43-31 to the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos on Thursday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bronchos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Lebanon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jade Mount, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds. Ali Bir was another key player, putting up eight points.

Lafayette Jefferson was led to victory by Maya Layton and Shaylee Barrett. Layton went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Barrett posted 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Barrett has posted since back in January of 2024.

Lebanon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Lafayette Jefferson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Lebanon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-48 loss against Evansville North on the 27th. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-28 defeat against Greenfield-Central on the 27th.
