Baseball Game Preview: Indio Rajahs vs. Yucca Valley Trojans

For the second straight game, Indio will face off against Yucca Valley. The Rajahs will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Indio has three straight wins, Yucca Valley has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Indio is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Yucca Valley on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Noah Hernandez and Jose Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hernandez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hernandez went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Rodriguez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those two doubles gave Hernandez a new career-high.

In other batting news, Andrew Garcia was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Christian Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Indio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Indio's record now sits at 9-11. As for Yucca Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
