Baseball Game Preview: Carson Senators vs. Douglas Tigers

The Carson Senators will head out to face off against the Douglas Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Carson will be strutting in after a victory while Douglas will be coming in after a defeat.

Carson's tournament run continued when they took on Mt. Shasta on Wednesday. The Senators walked away with a 10-5 win over the Bears.

Carson let Ethan Cook and Tyler LaFollette run wild. Cook went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while LaFollette got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. LaFollette has become a key player for Carson: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-16 otherwise. Cruz Gonzales also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Douglas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 9-2 to Bishop Manogue.

Douglas also got a good showing from Grayson Kamper, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kamper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Carson's record now sits at 7-17. As for Douglas, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Carson suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Douglas when the teams last played back in March. Can the Senators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
