Football Recap: Lincoln North Star Skates Past Bellevue East with Ease

Lincoln North Star won the last time they faced Bellevue East and things went their way on Friday too. The Navigators claimed a resounding 42-7 win over the Chieftains. The Navigators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Tyrell Chatman was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 120 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 89 yards and one score on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Louis Welstead, who picked up 64 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Lincoln North Star's run defense was locked in: Bellevue East could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. While four picked up at least four total tackles, Chatman stood above the rest. He threw for 120 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 89 yards and one score on only ten carries. Lincoln North Star's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.93 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.9 on average over their last five games.

Lincoln North Star didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Landon Steiger and Owen Berg. Steiger has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Marcus Wynne was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles.

Lincoln North Star has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.2 points on average over those games. As for Bellevue East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Lincoln North Star didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-22 loss against Papillion-LaVista South on the 31st. Bellevue East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
