Baseball Recap: Temecula Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Chaparral

There's no place like home for Temecula Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Chaparral Pumas on Monday. The Golden Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pumas, too.

Chase Hilt made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Temecula Valley's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Hilt was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isiah Rauseo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Will Bandel, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Temecula Valley's record is now 9-7. As for Chaparral, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

Temecula Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pumas: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
