Softball Recap: Man Gets the Win

Man proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Wyoming East Warriors 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-3 on Monday.

Mia Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Blevins, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Blevins a new career-high.

Man hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Man is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wyoming East, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Man will be taking part in a tournament against Tolsia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wyoming East, they will challenge Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
