Baseball Recap: Saugus Takes a Loss

Saugus entered their contest against Calabasas on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Saugus fell just short of Calabasas by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Centurions have suffered since February 24th.

Jake Kaplan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Matthew Carta, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Saugus and nudges their season record down to 9-4. As for Calabasas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saugus will challenge West Ranch at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Saugus' pitchers better be ready for this one: West Ranch has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Calabasas, they will take on Oaks Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Calabasas 3.4, Oaks Christian 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
