Preview: Orange Vista Coyotes vs. Newbury Park Panthers
The Orange Vista Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Newbury Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Orange Vista comes in on nine and Newbury Park on five.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Orange Vista had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down Western 63-46. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
It was another big night for Sire Gaines, who rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. Gaines' longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Jesse Anderson was another major influence, as he rushed for 87 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, Newbury Park narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Thousand Oaks 22-19.
Jaxon Mckinney was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Newbury Park also got help from Shane Rosenthal who showed off his sure hands for 128 receiving yards.
Orange Vista has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points per game. As for Newbury Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
