Basketball Game Preview: Llano Yellowjackets vs. Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees

The Llano Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Llano is looking for their season's first win.

On Friday, Llano was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Bandera. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1554th, while the BULLDOGS are ranked 502nd).

Despite the defeat, Llano had strong showings from Carl Schutte, who posted 23 points, and Konrad Zwicke, who earned 18 points. Zwicke continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Johnson, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed Stephenville with a 68-44 loss courtesy of Gordon on Thursday.

Llano's loss dropped their record down to 0-23. As for Stephenville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.

Llano didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Stephenville in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. Will Llano repeat their success, or does Stephenville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
