Basketball Recap: Sapulpa Takes a Loss

Sapulpa lost against Edmond North back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sapulpa Chieftains took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Edmond North Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Huskies are ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Sapulpa lost, don't look at Riki Mcquarters. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards. Mcquarters is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Wrigley Adkisson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Sapulpa is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 42.9% in those games and 27.6% outside of them. As for Edmond North, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Sapulpa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-49 win against Bartlesville on the 4th. As for Edmond North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-47 loss against Broken Arrow on the 4th.
