Softball Recap: Maine West Extends Winning Streak to Three

Maine West waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Prospect Knights by a score of 10-5. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

KAITLYN MARSH spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Maine West got a massive performance out of KARA LINDENMUTH, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that LINDENMUTH has launched this season. Another player making a difference was ILY NANTHAVINH, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Maine West lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Maine West's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Prospect, they moved to 15-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maine West will head out to challenge Niles North at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Prospect, they are taking a road trip to square off against Elk Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
