Football Recap: Hope Blue Wave vs. Davies Career & Tech Patriots
Hope managed to keep up with Davies Career & Tech until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Blue Wave were beaten by the Patriots 51-20. The Blue Wave haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Hope saw an underclassman step up: freshman Neciah Jalloh rushed for 155 yards and one TD while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Jalloh's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Christopher Martinez, who rushed for 57 yards and one score on only six carries.

Even if they lost, Hope's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Davies Career & Tech's QB won't forget Jonathan Jean-Louis anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Jean-Louis also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Hope received some extra help from Justin Marshall, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
A big part of Davies Career & Tech's victory came down to the chemistry between Tyrell Barros and his top target Edgar Melendez. Barros threw for 361 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes while Melendez picked up 209 receiving yards and three TDs. Those 209 receiving yards gave Melendez a new career-high. Collin Borden helped Barros out on the ground, rushing for 87 yards and one score on only eight carries.
Hope's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Davies Career & Tech, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Hope has already played their next game, a 32-0 defeat against Smithfield on the 3rd. As for Davies Career & Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-14 victory against Exeter-West Greenwich/Prout on the 2nd.
