Baseball Recap: Hazen Starts off Right with Win over Lindbergh

Hazen took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lindbergh Eagles with a sharp 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Benji Smajic looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rydan Corwin, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Gordon Williamson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Hazen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lindbergh only posted an OBP of .250.

Lindbergh's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazen is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lindbergh, they will challenge Highline at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The game will give Lindbergh their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
