Softball Recap: Wausau West Comes Up Short

Wausau West had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the De Pere Redbirds by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since April 8th.

As for De Pere, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

For De Pere's part, Addison Krutz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. Krutz has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julianne Bradford, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Looking ahead, Wausau West will challenge West De Pere at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for De Pere, they will take on Sheboygan North at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
