Basketball Game Preview: Evart Wildcats vs. Brethren Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Evart Wildcats take on the Brethren Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Evart has five straight wins, Brethren has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Evart didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Manton by a score of 55-45 on Friday. The 55-point effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Evart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidan Anderson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Anderson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakobe White, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Evart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Brethren came up short against Pentwater on Monday and fell 47-35. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Falcons are ranked 46th).

Evart pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22 points. As for Brethren, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
