Volleyball Recap: Sayre Takes a Loss

Sayre lost against Athens back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Redskins came up short against the Wildcats, falling 3-0.

While Sayre ultimately came up short, they really made Athens work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 26-24, 25-16.

Leading Athens to victory were Kayla Forbes and Lainey Vosburgh. Forbes had 16 digs and four aces, while Vosburgh had nine digs and two aces. Forbes is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Athens, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11-1 record this season.

Sayre wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Wyalusing Valley on the 23rd. As for Athens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Williamson on the 23rd.
